Why I Run:
County Government Has Unused Powers to Make Our Lives Better.

Local governments are closer to the people, and that is where real power resides.

Ban the Growing of GMO Crops in Snohomish County.
Local governments have the power to do this, and we should do it.

Phase in an a fair minimum wage.
What better way to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”?
The poor make less now than they did in 1968 in equivalent dollars.
Studies find that businesses are helped more than they are hurt by better worker wages.

Lower the voting age for all county offices to 16.
They can work unlimited hours, pay taxes, can drive, can consent to personal relationships.
They can go before a judge and be emancipaged.
They understand computing better than adults, and are idealistic.
They are in the schools and can give needed input on which can be done to improve schools.

Build a fiber optic internet for Snohomish County.
I’m a blogger. I can have 20 windows open at a time. And it is sloooow.
Mount Vernon provides speeds 300 times faster for the same price.
It will be a business magnet.

Help me work to stop coal and oil trains.
Coal trains will dump thousands of pounds of coal dust per mile per year along our coast.
The few fish left will be too contaminated with mercury to eat or sell.
Oil trains are too dangerous to be passing through Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Everett, Marysville, Stanwood.

The way Community Transit operates needs to be rethought.
It does some things well, but it does a poor job of getting riders to transit centers,

and it fails to give good service to those who do not own cars
and who depend on transit the most.

Extend Light Rail To Everett:
The way to get light rail to Everett is to increase ridership and revenues.
The way to do that is to find a way to get people to and from the transit centers.
My flex van proposal will do that. With more ridership, the system will bring in more revenues,
and our sales tax subsidy to transit will deliver more service for the same money.

Boycott power from dirty, dangerous,
and expensive nuclear plant

The Columbia Generating Station at Richland lies on a major fault.
It is a disaster waiting to happen.

Stop spraying Roundup On Street and Roads

Bicycling is a Form of Mass Transit

School Food
I have written a foodways book, including recipes.
I will help schools prepare low-cost, nutritious food that kids will gobble up.

Plastic bags should be banned.

We should go slow on microwave smart meters.
They will constitute a security hole into our privacy. They catch fire.
They do not save the consumer money. They do not save the utility company money.
Some people are especially sensitive to microwaves at close range.

Propeller planes should not be allowed to burn leaded avgas.
which continues to poison areas around airports.

The People of Snohomish County Deserve Clean, Safe Water.
We add dental chemicals to our water,
which leach lead from plumbing in large quantities.
These chemicals are called “fluoride”, but it is not pharmaceutical grade fluoride.
It contains lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, and thallium.

These chemicals are most harmful to the growing embryo, fetus, and baby.
They are mostly or completely ineffective at preventing tooth decay,
and there are better ways to kill decay bacteria.

Fluoridation is a chemical company scam to sell toxic scrubber liquor waste
from the smokestacks of phosphate fertilizer plants at a profit.
It is also illegal under Washington law.
Those who support fluoridation are uninformed dupes at best and fraudsters at worst.

Questions for John and Carolyn:
Why are you not addressing the issues that James is raising?

Which is more important, experience at maintaining the political status quo,
which my opponents offer,

or experience outside the limiting confines of politics,
plus knowledge about how to bring about real change?

Unafraid to take on controversial and difficult issues:
Politicians generally avoid controversial issues if they can.
Why take the risk if taking the position might turn away people
who otherwise would vote for you?
Also, politicians may not understand such complex issues.

Newspaper Coverage:
Mostly it has been praise for John and little mention of James and Carolyn.

More About James
He’s a well-balanced, level-headed guy.

  1. I read your website about the fluoride class action with re-newed hope that someone like yourself and other high profile people are fighting against the fluoridation of drinking water. The health impact of fluoridation is devastating enough but to learnt that it disproportionately effect the Black and Hispanic community is even more disgusting.

We are a small group of people in Northern Ireland who are fighting against the possible fluoridation of our water. At the moment our politicians are not listening to us. Could you please give us some idea of what impact fluoridation is having on the Black and Hispanic communities and any insights into how to proceed with our challenge in Northern Ireland.

Would you or any of your colleagues be willing to write to our Health Minister and explain to him just what impact fluoridation is having from your experience of dealing with those effected by it. I know you are very busy but this would greatly help our campaign over here.

Perhaps you could explain how you went about bringing this legal action, what obstacles and arguements you faced and how you overcame them please, to see if we could do something similar over here.

Thanks very much for your time.
    Stephen McMurray

    • From James: The fight against adding toxic waste drugs containing lead, arsenic, and hydrogen fluoride to our drinking water is a world wide fight. It is not a communist conspiracy; it is a chemical company conspiracy – to turn toxic waste which would cost a lot of money to dispose of into a dental elixer. See http://www.Fluoride-Class-Action.com/Sham for the full story of how this fraud got started.

  2. I wish I could vote for you, Mr. Deal, but while I grew up in beautiful Snohomish County, I now live in King County. Rarely have I ever had the opportunity to vote for such a strong environmental advocate, as you obviously are—and NEVER for county executive! You have done what no other politician in our state, that I’m aware of, has had the courage to do—that is, to vocally and knowledgeably speak out against adding the toxic waste product fluorosilicic acid (inaccurately called “fluoride”) to public drinking water. I sincerely hope that Snohomish County voters recognize the gem of a leader that they could have in you. You have so much to offer and so many refreshing beliefs and ideas! Snohomish County is thirsty for an impeccably honest county executive and you would fill that need perfectly. I wish you the best of luck in your campaign!

  3. Thank you for running. Many people don’t seem to realize what is happening to us because of the simple lack of “REAL” food and “CLEAN” water. I believe that most illness is caused by not having these.
We will be voting for you, good luck!

  4. Mr. Deal,

Thank you for running for County Exec. The Democratic Party Platform includes most of your points, however, I see and hear very little action and discussion on these areas. Senator Maralyn Chase is an exceptional exception.

Food Inc., was widely viewed… so some of us know Food is Medicine (or can be toxic..) Have you seen Against the Grain ? re Monsanto….

I schedule speakers in a number of situations and will contact you later …

  5. All of James Deal’s ideas are for making our lives better, and from his past actions I know he will fight to

remove the harmful toxins that we have been exposed to.

James Deal is an honest, knowledgeable, informed man who will be an excellent County Executive!

So… for the BEST DEAL, vote for JAMES DEAL.
